Ten years have passed since the idea emerged to create a local organization that responds to the need for prevention and reduction of early pregnancies and gender-based violence in adolescent girls and young women, both in mestizo and indigenous populations located in the southeast of the Pet\u00e9n department in Guatemala, a dynamic observed in a macho social context with precarious education levels. The initiative was driven by committed adolescent girls and young women who seek, in solidarity, to contribute to improving the quality of life of women, based on human rights standards, thus creating the AMA Association.<\/p>\n

A moment of internal reflection in 2021 led us to establish the importance of developing a tool to better guide our work to make it more efficient. Therefore, the AMA Association promoted the preparation of the planning process between the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, with the cooperation of the Global Fund for Children to conclude with the creation of the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, which was carried out under participatory mechanisms to review our history, achievements, lessons learned, and the challenges we face to improve the effectiveness of our work.<\/p>\n

The Plan develops AMA's global strategy, considering the work we have been doing, organizing it through a general objective, 4 strategic objectives that become the organization's major programs, 9 expected results have been defined, and 22 strategic activities have been established, which contemplate a series of actions or tasks to be developed during the period 2022-2027.<\/p>\n

The 2022-2027 Strategic Plan of the AMA Association is framed within human rights standards and is closely linked to Goals 3, 4, and 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals established within the United Nations, which address 3) \"ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages\"; 4) \"ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all\"; and 5) \"achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.\" It also corresponds to two of the national development priorities focused on Social Protection and Primary, Secondary Education, complete, and quality.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
